If you didn’t know, online dating is hard work. And let’s face it, it can be both scary and risky business meeting new people on or off line. Now let’s say you’ve ducked and dodged the slings and arrows of online dating and started the process of getting to know someone better. Good for you! But wait–don’t you wish there were some tell-tale signs that would let you know this is the right person for you? Well it just so happens that I have this handy dandy list of the 10 signs your online date could be the real deal or 10 signs hes really into you. Of course there are no guarantees when it comes to love, but I think your chances will be a whole lot better if you find your date somewhere on this list.
So what are the signs hes really into you?
#1 Are they willing to window shop with you or listen to you yap on and on about your fantasy sports team? If so, you have a keeper on your hands and would be foolish to let them slip away. In today’s self-centered, A.D.D. infested society, people are becoming less and less willing to tolerate anything that doesn’t satisfy their needs first and foremost.
#2 If your request to abstain from sex for an undetermined period of time doesn’t run them off, this person is probably THE ONE for you. Whether it be for religious reasons or to simply see if a person is interested in you as more than just a fleshy play-thing, abstinence is dating’s ultimate acid test.
#3 If your date is enthusiastic about meeting your family and friends either have them committed or rush them to the altar immediately. Come on, you know how crazy your friends and family are. That’s why you rarely bring anyone around or even mention that you’re seeing someone. And if your date still wants to meet them knowing this, you’ve hit the jackpot!
#4 If they are willing to embarrass themselves for you in the name of love keep ‘em. For the girls, ask the guy if he would pick up some sanitary napkins for you. If you’re a guy, ask her to buy you some laxative tablets. You may be too embarrassed to make such requests, but the point is to find out how far your date will go to show you they care while looking for nothing in return?
#5 Does the person go out of their way to say–wipe a booger from your nose? If this person displays a genuinely nurturing quality you can bet they’re the real deal. Just be careful, because as in nature some nurturers have been know to smother their young.
#6 If you are a single parent, let your child be the judge. Children have an intuitive radar that can sniff out ill intent in ways adults cannot comprehend. Let little Abby scan the profiles and meet the contestants. She’ll separate the prince from the predators.
#7 If they give you their mobile and home or work number that can be a good sign. These days it’s far too easy to attach a free Google number to your cell phone and pass it on to someone you just met online. But if you get a true work number, this person is playing for keeps.
#8 Has the person shown that they took the time to read your profile carefully? Within the first flirty inquisition you can tell if a person has read your profile and thought seriously about what you wrote. If the rest of their communication flows in cadence with the overall tone you set in your dating profile, you either have a very serious suitor pursuing you or a very thorough serial killer sizing you up. But it’s probably just someone that really wants to go out with you, so I wouldn’t worry about the serial killer thing.
#9 During chat sessions, is the person truly paying attention to what you’re saying? Because you can’t look into a person’s eyes during online dialog, the way you can over coffee, you really don’t know if they’re chatting with you and three other partners at the same time. If you ask your new “friend” some pointed questions about past conversations and they can recall details with little hesitation, this is a pretty good indicator that they are truly into you and the conversation.
#10 Ask the person of interest what their intentions are with you. If you pose this question and the person can instantly give a satisfactory answer without stumbling over their words, this person if probably for real.
